On the completion of building the new quay and the filling in of the old dock in 1911 the area now known as the Harbour Square was developed.
Various groups have used the ideal available space in the Town Centre. From this Muster in the earlier years of the 20th Century to today’s Summer Festivities activities.
The Square was used for Bus parking for many years until the eventual demolition of the Bus Station
The new square with the United Reform Church in the background. This eventually became the local Picture House and is now the site for the Tesco supermarket.
Over the years many fun fairs have been held here.
The Harbour Square rose beds were well known and much appreciated in the 50’s and 60’s.
