For our annual release of statutory register entries, ScotlandsPeople has made available online images of almost 200,000 births, deaths and marriages. The newly-available records consist of 98,554 Scottish births in 1918, 38,271 marriages in 1943 and 63,311 deaths in 1968. You can now search for, view and save these records on the ScotlandsPeople website. Welcome to the ScotlandsPeople Newsletter, January
Would you like to know how to get the most out of ScotlandsPeople? Iain Ferguson, one of their family history specialists, will help you do that at his talk in New Register House, Edinburgh, on 14 March, 2-3pm
For those of who aren’t able to attend the talks, they record them for the National Records of Scotland (NRS) blog. They plan to make a version of Iain’s talk available later in the year. Why not have a listen to their other Podcasts on the NRS blog in the meantime?
A particular item of interest on their current website is “Our Records: The Great Storm of 1968.”
